Nice Preview: Evolving Nice

Over the summer, with INEOS taking more of a focus on Manchester United rather than Nice, the southerners managed to pull off the managerial coup to bring in former Lens boss Franck Haise. They have started the season relatively slowly but they begin the weekend sit just about tucked inside the top six and the European spots.

Nice come into this one on the back of a 2-2 draw at home to Lille at the Allianz Riviera in their most recent outing a couple of weeks ago. That involved a 96th minute equaliser from Thomas Louchet. That goal means they have suffered just two defeats in their last 11 matches across all competitions since losing 2-0 to Olympique de Marseille in the Derby de la Mediterranee.

Strasbourg Preview: Silky Strasbourg

Supporters of Alsace-based club Strasbourg are continuing to protest against the BlueCo ownership of Strasbourg. They have been able to spend relatively big but fans do not like effectively being a feeder or satellite club to or of Chelsea. They did make the intriguing appointment of former Hull City boss Liam Rosenior over the summer.

They have been very entertaining to watch with a progressive style of football in which Strasbourg’s 11 matches so far this season have consisted of 42 goals. They have been inconsistent, though, as they sit in the bottom-half of the table on the back of back-to-back losses against Saint-Etienne and Monaco.

Nice Team News: No Abdelmonem or Sanson

Former Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Sanson is out injured due to an ankle injury with several other concerns such as Ali Abdi and Antoine Mendy for this one.

Key defender Mohamed Abdelmonem is sidelined due to a calf injury alongside central midfielder Hicham Boudaoui but they will have to make at least one change.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Bulka; Ndayishimiye, Moise Bombito, Bard; Clauss, Rosario, Ndombele, Louchet; Guessand, Cho, Boga

Unavailable: Abdelmonem (Injured), Abdi (Injured), Sanson (Injured), Boudaoui (Injured), Mendy (Injured)

Strasbourg Team News: Several absentees

Strasbourg are dealing with several injury concerns for this one against Nice, whilst attacker Habib Diarra is unavailable for this one due to suspension.

As well as the absence of Diarra, fellow attackers Moise Sahi and Emmanuel Emegha are out injured with goalkeeper Alaa Bellaarouch a long-term absentee.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Petrovic; Doue, Sow, Sylla; Bakwa, Doukoure, Santos, Diego Moreira; Lukovic, Nanasi, Mara

Unavailable: Bellaarouch (Injured), Sarr (Injured), Delaine (Injured), Sahi (Injured), Emegha (Injured), Diarra (Suspended)

Nice vs Strasbourg Prediction

Franck Haise’s style of football is often a little reactive with a back three system his preference. However, on the ball, they do play a proactive style so will look to take the game to the opposition, especially at home. Unlike his Hull City side, Liam Rosenior’s Strasbourg tend to take more risks with and without the ball and that has led to some entertaining games involving them. As a result, betting on both teams scoring seems a good one for this one.
