THE TEAM NEWS
BALTIMORE RAVENS
- Baltimore Ravens finished second in last season’s AFC North with an 11-5 record and despite getting the better of Tennessee Titans in their Wild Card matchup, they fell at the next hurdle with Buffalo stifling them.
- Baltimore’s preparations have not gone smoothly for this campaign with RBs J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards both suffering season-ending ACL injuries while CB Marcus Peters endured the same fate.
LAS VEGAS RAIDERS
- Las Vegas Raiders were hugely inconsistent last season and that showed with their 8-8 record which saw them fall short of making the post-season which is something they will be targeting this year.
- The Raiders had a fairly low-key draft with OT Alex Leatherwood their first-round pick but they have plenty of talent on both sides of the ball, although there is a lot of pressure on QB Derek Carr to perform.
THE PREDICTION
Las Vegas Raiders fell narrowly short in their quest to make the
play-offs last year and they will be eager to get off to a good start
here in a bid to put that right this time around. However, they face a
tough task as they host Baltimore Ravens, a team that are capable of
going deep into the post-season. They have been hit by some injuries to
key personnel during the off-season but they still boast plenty of
talent and with QB Lamar Jackson under center, the road team should
still have too much for the Raiders.
