THE TEAM NEWS
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
- New England Patriots have had their preparations for this contest with Kansas City Chiefs severely disrupted owing to a positive COVID-19 test for QB Cam Newton but the game will go ahead having been moved back a day.
- Newton will of course be absent with so Brian Hoyer is expected to start under center as the Patriots go in search of an unlikely win that would put them at 3-1 following last week’s success over Las Vegas Raiders.
- RB James White should make his return after missing out the past two games because of personal reasons while WR Julian Edelman and RB Sony Michel should be fit to feature despite only logging limited practices in the build-up to this.
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
- Kansas City Chiefs maintained their perfect start to the new season as they produced a strong performance to defeat Baltimore Ravens and they will be confident of continuing their winning streak as they host New England Patriots.
- The Chiefs have now won 12 straight dating back to last season and looked ominously good as they defeated the Ravens, a team deemed as one of their main rivals once again in their quest to defend their Super Bowl title.
- Head coach Andy Reid has few injury issues ahead of this contest with DT Chris Jones the only player to carry a questionable tag into the match whilst DE Alex Okafor will make his return after missing the last two games with a hamstring issue.
THE PREDICTION
New England Patriots will hope to overcome the drama that has engulfed the build-up to this contest but will find it hard going as they travel to Kansas City to face the Chiefs. They will be without QB Cam Newton because of his positive COVID-19 test and that could have big implications for their season. They sit at 2-1 but there is big pressure on likely stand-in Brian Hoyer and coming up against the 3-0 Chiefs, they are unlikely to get the better of the hosts with Kansas City able to win this by at least 14 points.
