THE TEAM NEWS

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

  • Kansas City Chiefs were given a huge scare by Los Angeles Chargers last week but they were saved by the boot of Harrison Butker who managed to force overtime with the final play of regulation time.
  • Butker then nailed a field goal from 58 yards in overtime to seal the victory for the Chiefs as they moved to 2-0 to open the season but they will need to show big improvements as they bid to maintain their unbeaten start to defending their Super Bowl crown.
  • The Chiefs look in good shape ahead of this encounter with Baltimore Ravens with just three players questionable for the trip in the form of WR Sammy Watkins, CB Charvarius Ward and LB Dorian O’Daniel, although DE Alex Okafor has been ruled out.

BALTIMORE RAVENS

  • Baltimore Ravens improved to 2-0 as they put in another solid showing against Houston Texans last week but now they face a huge task to extend their winning start to the campaign as they take on Kansas City Chiefs.
  • The Ravens notched 33 points against the Texans to build on the 38 points they scored in Week 1 against Cleveland Browns but their offense still feels like it has plenty of room for improvement.
  • On the defensive side of the ball, the Ravens suffered a big blow last week with CB Tavon Young ruled out for the season after he tore his ACL last week while DT Justin Madubuike and S Anthony Levine are among those who are questionable.

THE PREDICTION

Baltimore Ravens gained big plaudits last season and many thought they could challenge for the Super Bowl but they fell short in a shock Divisional Round loss to Tennessee Titans in the post-season. They will hope for better this time round and they can lay down a marker as they host the team that won last year’s Super Bowl in Kansas City Chiefs. Despite both sitting at 2-0, the Ravens have started the better of the two and will be confident of success on home soil but this could turn into a shootout between two young, impressive QBs in Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes and that should mean a contest that produces at least 54 points.
