SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
- Seattle missed out on the NFC West crown as they were narrowly defeated by San Francisco and must now face the Wildcard round which presents them with a difficult route to the Super Bowl.
- The Seahawks have struggled with defensive injuries all season and lost linebacker Mychal Kendricks to a torn ACL in last week's game but despite defensive end Jadeveon Clowney failing to practice through Thursday, he should be able to suit up.
- Tackle Duane Brown, guard Mike Iupati and wide receiver Jaron Brown all remain doubts with various injuries with the Seahawks desperate to get at least a couple of those on to the field come Sunday.
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
- Philadelphia did what was required as they overcame divisional rivals New York Giants to claim the NFC East title but face a difficult task to keep themselves alive in the play-offs as they face a tricky opening test against Seattle.
- The Eagles suffered yet another injury last week and it was bad news for guard Brandon Brooks who is out for the rest of the season with a dislocated shoulder in what is a huge blow for the Philadelphia offensive line.
- With a spot on their roster freed up because of the injury to Brooks, the Eagles have opted to bolster their wide receiving corps and have signed Shelton Gibson who returns to the team that waived him back in August.
THE PREDICTION
Seattle could come unstuck by injuries as their bid to make the Super Bowl gets underway with this trip to Philadelphia. The Eagles too are also down to the bare bones with lots of quality on the sidelines and it could turn this game into a war of attrition but the Seahawks have that bit of extra quality in their team guided by quarterback Russell Wilson and they are capable of edging what should be a closely-fought contest.
