PITTSBURGH STEELERS
- Pittsburgh went down to their second loss of the season whilst also suffering a huge injury blow as Seattle proved too good last week and now they travel to San Francisco to face the 2-0 49ers.
- The Steelers will have a new man under center for the rest of the year after QB Ben Roethlisberger suffered a season-ending elbow injury and Mason Rudolph will get the first chance to make the position his own after impressing when he filled in for Roethlisberger last week.
- RB James Conner was also a doubt for this game after suffering a knee injury during last week’s game and despite missing practice on Wednesday, he was a full participant on Thursday and should be good to go here.
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
- San Francisco were impressive on both sides of the ball as they racked up a big score to defeat Cincinnati and improve to 2-0 but their offense was particularly striking as they managed over 500 total yards.
- The 49ers endured a huge injury blow last week as influential Pro Bowl LT Joe Staley broke a fibula and will miss at least two months of the season which will leave a big hole on the offensive line.
- Dee Ford remains a doubt for this game with two separate injuries with the DE struggling with a quadricep and knee with head coach Kyle Shanahan stating that they will take caution should be not he fully-fit come kick-off.
THE PREDICTION
Pittsburgh will start with Mason Rudolph at QB in what will be his first start in the NFL after Ben Roethlisberger was ruled out for the year with an elbow injury. RB James Conner might also feature without being fully-fit for the Steelers but San Francisco will fancy their chances of winning this game regardless of his status after a strong start to the season. They were brilliant on offense last week and although LT Joe Staley will be a big miss, the 49ers can improve to 3-0.
