THE TEAM NEWS

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

  • New Orleans were unable to handle the early loss of QB Drew Brees as they fell to defeat against the Los Angeles Rams last week with a tough game on the road at Seattle to back that up.
  • The Saints will have to cope without Brees for six weeks after suffering a thumb ligament injury with Teddy Bridgewater to fill in at QB in his absence although head coach Sean Payton could also turn to Taysom Hill.
  • Whoever lines up under center could be without WR Tre-Quan Smith after he picked up an ankle injury in the fourth quarter against the Rams and having failed to appear in the first two practices of the week, his status for this game remains under a cloud.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

  • Seattle made it two wins from two as they claimed a hard-fought victory over Pittsburgh and will fancy their chances of going 3-0 here as they prepare to face a New Orleans side missing their star QB.
  • DE Ziggy Ansah looks set to make his debut for the Seahawks in this contest but must prove his fitness following a shoulder injury whilst WR David Moore could also make his first appearance of the season.
  • Moore looks set to return after breaking his humerus bone in practice back in August but CB Neiko Thorpe could be missing once again as he continues to work his way back to fitness from a hamstring injury.

THE PREDICTION

New Orleans will have to overcome the loss of star QB Drew Brees after he went down with a thumb injury last week. The Saints will have to hope back-ups Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill can keep them in the hunt whilst he is absent but this looks like a tricky trip to Seattle and the home side can come out on top. They have begun the season 2-0 and looked solid doing so and they can make it seven consecutive home wins here.
