THE TEAM NEWS

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

  • New Orleans put in another brilliant defensive performance as they edged a low-scoring contest against Jacksonville to move to 5-1 and with first-choice QB Drew Brees’ return on the horizon, the Saints are in good shape.
  • Saints RB Alvin Kamara carried an ankle injury into his team's game with the Jaguars and picked up a knock to his knee in that contest with the cumulative effect of those injuries ruling him out of this contest.
  • Latavius Murray is likely to be the premier RB in Kamara’s absence but the Saints are also missing another offensive cog with TE Jared Cook also ruled out because of an ankle problem.

CHICAGO BEARS

  • Chicago could not improve to 4-1 as they conceded a late TD to fall to defeat against Oakland in London before their bye week and will face another tough test here as the in-form Saints head to Solider Field.
  • The Bears have suffered a big blow on their offensive line with RG Kyle Long needing to be be placed on IR due to an ongoing hip issue whilst OL Ted Larsen is questionable for this game with a knee issue.
  • QB Mitchell Trubisky logged three full practices during the week and should return to action but he is still designated as questionable with the Bears likely to keep him on the sidelines if there is any doubt regarding his fitness.

THE PREDICTION

New Orleans are developing a reputation for having one of the best defenses in the NFL and will now go up against a Chicago defense that is one of the most feared. With neither offense running hot and the defenses on top, that could result in a low-scoring encounter. The Saints have done very well the in the absence of Drew Brees and are unbeaten with Teddy Bridgewater starting under centre, with that record able to keep on rolling despite facing a real test against the Bears defense.
