LOS ANGELES CHARGERS
- Los Angeles Chargers needed overtime to see off Indianapolis in their season opener thanks to an inspired display by QB Philip Rivers with the veteran throwing for 333 yards and three TDs in the win.
- Chargers WR Mike Williams suffered a knee injury late in last week's contest and whilst it is not expected to rule him out of this clash with the Lions, his availability is likely to be a game-time decision.
- One player definitely ruled out is TE Hunter Henry who suffered a fracture of his left knee which only became apparent after last week’s game and he is set for another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
DETROIT LIONS
- Detroit had to settle for a tie after failing to hold on to an 18-point lead in the fourth quarter against Arizona last week and they will want to respond to that disappointment by earning their first win of the season as they host the LA Chargers.
- Rookie Lions TE T.J. Hockenson enjoyed an NFL debut to remember as he scored a TD and brought in six catches for 131 yards and he is likely to be a big target for QB Matt Stafford moving forward.
- The Lions could be boosted by the return of their defensive captain with LB Jarrad Davis making a surprise appearance at practice on Wednesday and he could make his comeback from injury ahead of schedule this week.
THE PREDICTION
Detroit will have to overcome the disappointment of their Week 1 collapse as they allowed Arizona to score 18 unanswered points to tie the game. They host LA Chargers whose offense just about got the job done against Indianapolis last week and the road team can make it two wins from two here. They have plenty of improvement in them but their offense should have too much for the Lions defense.
