THE TEAM NEWS
HOUSTON TEXANS
- Houston claimed victory in odd circumstances as Jacksonville tried to win the game instead of sending it to OT with that move backfiring which allowed the Texans to pick up their first win of the year.
- Texans LT Laremy Tunsil suffered an ankle injury last week and whilst it is not considered too serious, he is a doubt for this game but two limited practices at the start of the week suggest he should be good to suit up.
- Star WR DeAndre Hopkins was a concerning inclusion on the initial injury report but having been limited at Wednesday’s practice, Hopkins logged a full practice on Thursday suggesting his availability is not in any danger.
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS
- Los Angeles Chargers were left to rue two missed FGs from very kickable range as they suffered a narrow defeat to Detroit which saw them slip to 1-1 and now face another tough examination against Houston.
- Kicker Michael Badgley looks set to return here which will be a huge relief to the Chargers after Ty Long had to double up from his usual role as punter and his misses from 39 and 41 yards proved crucial in their loss.
- All-Pro Chargers S Adrian Phillips went down with a broken arm last week and will miss a significant part of the season whilst CB Michael Davis continues to struggle with his hamstring injury.
THE PREDICTION
Los Angeles Chargers will hope to have regular kicker Michael Badgley back this week after two missed FGs cost them against Detroit last week. They host a Houston side that won their first game of the year last week and can back that up by claiming the win here. They will have to protect QB Deshaun Watson better than they have so far having allowed at least four sacks in their last eight games but they can do enough to just edge this one.
