DETROIT LIONS
- Detroit were thankful of two missed FGs by Los Angeles Chargers as they rode their luck to come out on top of a tight affair to make it two games without defeat in the NFL this season with a record of 1-0-1.
- Kerryon Johnson was shaken up on a play last week and although the Lions RB returned to the field he will be assessed during the week but should feature after he was omitted from Detroit’s injury report at the start of the week.
- The Lions only had four players named on their early injury report with the likes of LB Jarrad Davis and T Taylor Decker included but all four managed to log some form of practice on Wednesday and will play unless they suffer any setbacks.
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
- Philadelphia could not handle the loss of key personnel during their game with Atlanta as they suffered defeat last week and they could head into this game with Detroit with a very under-strength side.
- WRs DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffrey will both be hoping to overcome the injuries that they picked up during the Eagles' loss last week but neither featured at Wednesday’s walk-through practice which puts their availability in doubt.
- Those two were among 13 names who were listed on Philadelphia’s injury report on Wednesday with six players in total failing to participate and one man definitely ruled out this week is DT Timmy Jernigan who could miss around a month with a broken foot.
THE PREDICTION
Detroit could face a banged-up Philadelphia after the Eagles lost numerous players to injury in last week's loss. The Eagles will be hoping to have at least some of their injured stars back but it is likely that several will miss out and that could see the Lions take advantage. QB Carson Wentz is one player carrying a knock but he has limited options to throw to if DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffrey fail to take to the field, with the Lions able to edge it.
