THE TEAM NEWS

DENVER BRONCOS

  • Denver won in the most unlikely of circumstances as their last-gasp field goal following a pass interference call from a deep ball with just seconds remaining saw them defeat AFC West rivals Los Angeles Chargers.
  • The Broncos gave a first NFL start to quarterback Drew Lock and he will be hoping to build on a good showing as he prepares for his first road game but will face a very difficult test against a strong Texans outfit.
  • His chances of producing back-to-back wins will take a further hit if guard Ron Leary is unable to come through the concussion protocol but the Broncos could be boosted on defense with linebacker Von Miller making a return to practice after injury forced him to sit out last week.

HOUSTON TEXANS

  • Houston put themselves in the driving seat of the AFC South as they produced a great display to see off New England last week and they have now won four of their last five matches.
  • Back-up running back Taiwan Jones suffered a hamstring injury last week but the Texans will not be too concerned about his availability with plenty of their roster beginning to get healthy ahead of this important part of the season.
  • Cornerbacks Gareon Conley, Bradley Roby and wide receiver Will Fuller were limited at Wednesday’s practice but Jones was the only Texan who was unable to practice in any form which is a good sign ahead of this Week 14 contest.

THE PREDICTION

Houston have the talent to compete for the Super Bowl and that was evident in their win over New England last week. Defensive injuries have been a big problem for them but they are coping well and the rest of their roster is also starting to get stronger with several players getting healthy in recent weeks. The Broncos will be on a high after last week but they look set to be brought back down to earth by the Texans.
