Nathan Aspinall vs Luke Humphries Prediction

Given that most coverage over the last year has been around Luke Littler, it’s easy to forget that 2024 was the first time that Luke Humphries featured in the Premier League, with ‘Cool Hand’ going on to lose in the final to his aforementioned namesake.

Having recently lost his World Championship title, Humphries answered his critics in perfect fashion over the weekend by winning the revamped Winmau World Masters title, holding off a fine Jonny Clayton comeback in a memorable final. That was just the boost he needed ahead of the new Premier League campaign, and the world number one will be determined to make a statement on opening night.

Perhaps the most controversial selection this year, Nathan Aspinall – Premier League runner-up in 2020 – is featuring largely because of his quarter-final run at Alexandra Palace, although some would have you believe it’s because of his popular walk-on song.

Shades of dartitis have crept into Aspinall’s game in recent months, and although he appears to be handling it well so far, you’d have to fancy a fired up Humphries to win this quarter-final with a couple of legs to spare.
