Napoli Preview: Grinding it out
Antonio Conte is doing typical Antonio Conte things in charge of Napoli with several outspoken complaints against the running of the club but the Neapolitans are also grinding out victories as they still challenge for the Serie A title, now level on points with defending champions Inter.
The hosts come into this one on the back of a typical Conte performance as they defeated bottom-of-the-table and Serie B-bound Monza by a goal to nil at Stadio Brianteo last weekend courtesy of a 72nd minute winner scored by Scotland international Scott McTominay.
Torino Preview: Firmly in mid-table
Torino begin the 34th match day of the 2024/25 Serie A campaign sitting tucked inside the top-half of the table with a typical mid-table set of results of ten victories with 13 draws and ten defeats, scoring 38 goals and conceding 37 so far this season.
A disciple of Conte, former Venezia boss Paolo Vanoli, took charge last summer and has been unable to implement much change in Piedmont. They have been in good form in the last couple of months and did defeat Udinese by two goals to nil in Turin in midweek.
Napoli Team News: Buongiorno still a doubt
Italy international centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno has been dealing with a thigh injury issues throughout the campaign and the former Torino centre-back remains a doubt. Both Juan Jesus and David Neres remain sidelined for the hosts, too.
Predicted XI (4-3-3): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Rafa Marin, Mathias Olivera; Gilmour, Lobotka, McTominay; Politano, Lukaku, Spinazzola
Unavailable: Juan (Injured), David Neres (Injured)
Questionable: Buongiorno (Injured)
Torino Team News: Several issues
Torino are dealing with quite a few issues for this one with midfielder Gvidas Gineitis is missing through suspension alongside long-term injury absentees Perr Schuurs and Duvan Zapata. They also have several key first-team doubts, too.
Predicted XI (4-4-2): Milinkovic-Savic; Pedersen, Guillermo Maripan, Masina, Biraghi; Karamoh, Tameze, Linetty, Elmas; Casadei, Adams
Unavailable: Schuurs (Injured), Gineitis (Suspended), Njie (Injured), Duvan Zapata (Injured)
Questionable: Masina (Injured), Ilic (Injured), Ricci (Injured), Vlasic (Injured), Lazaro (Injured)
Napoli vs Torino Prediction
Napoli, as mentioned, have developed a style of football whereby they grind out victories as they seek to earn a fourth ever Scudetto and their second in three seasons following their success under Luciano Spalletti in 2023. They face a Torino side that have little to play for but have been improved in the last couple of months. That said, the visitors are dealing with a few availability issues and Napoli grinding out another win would not be a surprise.
Napoli vs Torino Tip: Napoli to win to nil
