Napoli have been in the title race throughout the campaign but they have been knocked off top spot ahead of this weekend as they now face a faltering AC Milan side in Naples this weekend.

Napoli Preview: Short-term Napoli

Antonio Conte is being heavily linked with a move to Juventus in the summer but, for the time being, Napoli are trying to complete what has been an impressive campaign, despite the fact performances have remained fairly average throughout and now results have dropped off.

The Neapolitans went into the March international break on the back of a goalless draw with Venezia at the Pier Luigi Penzo Stadium. That means Napoli have now managed just one victory in their last seven matches in Serie A.

AC Milan Preview: Conceicao’s struggles

AC Milan appointed former Porto boss Sergio Conceicao at the turn of the year and, in his first two matches, won the Supercoppa Italiana by coming from behind against both Juventus and Internazionale in the semi-final and the final in Saudi Arabia.

The Rossoneri have since massively underwhelmed as they begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting outside of the top eight and the European spots in Serie A, albeit did scrape past Como by two goals to one, coming from behind, at San Siro a couple of weeks ago.

Napoli Team News: Settled XI

Antonio Conte has been keen to, as ever, try and name the same eleven week in week out throughout the campaign but the departure of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in January did lead to a slight tweak tactically. David Neres remains an injury doubt due to a thigh issue.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Buongiorno, Spinazzola; Gilmour, Lobotka; Politano, McTominay, Raspadori; Lukaku

Unavailable:

Questionable: David Neres (Injured)

AC Milan Team News: Deep squad

Sergio Conceicao and AC Milan have a ridiculously deep squad with a variety of options in every position but there is no real hierarchy. Former Valencia midfielder Yunus Musah is missing through suspension, whilst Santiago Gimenez is an injury doubt after playing for Mexico.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Walker, Gabbia, Thiaw, Hernandez; Bondo, Loftus-Cheek; Pulisic, Reijnders, Leao; Abraham

Unavailable: Musah (Suspended)

Questionable: Emerson Royal (Injured), Santiago Gimenez (Injured)

Napoli vs AC Milan Prediction

This is a massive game on paper between two of Italy’s strongest and biggest clubs. Napoli are searching for their fourth ever Scudetto and second in three seasons. They are, though, struggling since the departure of Kvaratskhelia as they now take on an AC Milan side appearing to gel into the Sergio Conceicao way – which is often just simply painful for the neutral or their own supporter to watch. As a result, this is unlikely to be a classic for the neutral.

Napoli vs AC Milan Tip: Under 2.5 goals
