Antoine Kombouare’s Nantes earned themselves a decent point last week but fell down the table as they now take on a Monaco side looking to cement themselves in the top three.

Nantes Preview: Frustration for Nantes

Antoine Kombouare returned to Nantes as their third coach of the season last season as he helped the Canaries climb away from the bottom three and the danger zone but, after a bright start to the campaign, they have slipped down to third-from-bottom ahead of this weekend.

That position is despite an impressive performance at Stade Pierre-Mauroy last weekend. Struggling Nantes went away to Lille and went behind in the 47th minute to a Gabriel Gudmundsson strike before Matthis Abline scored an equaliser from the spot 20 minutes later.

Monaco Preview: Foot down on the Monegasque

Coached by former Borussia Monchengladbach boss Adi Hutter, Monaco have been entertaining to watch throughout his tenure and, despite a loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Trophee des Champions last weekend, he has signed a new deal in the principality this week.

Monaco started the season extremely well as they propelled themselves into the title race but their form has massively dipped and that aforementioned defeat to PSG means they have now won just seven victories in their last 17 matches across all competitions.

Nantes Team News: Couple of injuries

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Kohn; Singo, Kehrer, Salisu, Vanderson; Magassa, Camara; Akliouche, Ben Seghir, Golovin; Embolo

Nantes vs Monaco Prediction

Nantes, as mentioned, started the season well but have steadily declined throughout the opening few months of the campaign, even leading to a pitch invasion in November from supporters protesting the performances of their players. They now face a Monaco side that may well perhaps be a bit rusty and haven’t been at their fluent best for a while now so it could well be a good value bet to go with a double chance option in favour of the home team.

Nantes vs Monaco Tip: Double chance – Nantes to win or draw
