Movsar Evloev: Russian star puts his 100% record on the line

Movsar Evloev (18-0) brings his 100% record into this fight and it is fair to say that this is comfortably the toughest test he has faced in his professional MMA career. He has been scheduled to face some quality opponents in recent years such as Ilia Topuria and Bryce Mitchell but those bouts have fallen through for one reason or another. He did meet Diego Lopes at UFC 288 and then Arnold Allen at UFC 297, but this arguably represents another step up in class for him.

Aljamain Sterling: Ex-Bantamweight champ looking to make mark at Featherweight

Aljamain Sterling (24-4) returned to featherweight in his last fight and picked up a unanimous decision win over Calvin Kattar at UFC 300. He returned to the weight class after he was TKO’d be Sean O’Malley and lost his bantamweight belt after three title defences. Sterling will now be looking to get a couple of wins in this division to put him in title contention and a win against number five in the division would do just that.

Movsar Evloev vs Aljamain Sterling Prediction

This is a fantastic fight on the UFC 310 card and will really test the credentials of both players and whether they are legitimate title contenders in the featherweight division.

Movsar Evloev is rising up the rankings and will be eyeing a title shot with a convincing win here. That said, he will not care how he wins and if it is a case of dominating with his wrestling and grinding his way to a decision win, he will take it.

Sterling will be tasked with having to somehow contend with Evloev’s incredible wrestling base. That will be no easy feat and it will be interesting to see whether he can stuff the Russian’s takedowns long enough to give him a chance to cause damage with his striking.

That appears to be Sterling’s only real chance of victory here. Evloev will have the edge in the clinch and on the ground so Sterling is going to have to try enjoy some striking success.

We do not see it happening however. Evloev is dominant and has proven to be tough and durable so far. We favour him to grind out the decision win here.

Prediction: Movsar Evloev to win by decision
