MONZA PREVIEW: SOLID AND STEADY

Monza begin this weekend’s round of fixtures in the bottom three and the relegation places but the expectation was always for a relegation battle after they lost manager Raffaele Palladino and replaced him with AC Milan legend Alessandro Nesta.

Despite the impressive performances of Daniel Maldini, Monza have struggled for attacking threat throughout the campaign with just ten goals scored in their 11 matches so far this season. They most recently suffered a 1-0 defeat to AC Milan last weekend.

LAZIO PREVIEW: GOOD FORM

Over the summer, Lazio appointed Marco Baroni after he performed a miracle to keep Hellas Verona up last season and the capital city club have been very impressive. They sit just outside of the top four but are trending in the right direction.

They defeated Porto by two goals to one in the UEFA Europa League in midweek with a second-half stoppage-time winner from Pedro. Since the September international break, they have won ten of their 12 matches across all competitions.

MONZA TEAM NEWS: SEVERAL ISSUES

Italian internationals Stefano Sensi and Roberto Gagliardini are both doubtful for this weekend alongside former Manchester United attacker Omari Forson.

PREDICTED XI (3-4-2-1): Turati; Izzo, Pablo Mari, Carboni; Pedro Pereira, Bondo, Bianco, Kyriakopoulos; Dany Mota, Maldini; Djuric

UNAVAILABLE: Cragno (Injured), Petagna (Illness)

QUESTIONABLE: Sensi (Injured), Gagliardini (Injured), Forson (Injured)

LAZIO TEAM NEWS: COUPLE OF ISSUES

Lazio midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli is missing once again with a knee injury and Spanish defender Patric is also an injury doubt but should be available.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Provedel; Lazzari, Gila, Romagnoli, Pellegrini; Guendouzi, Rovella; Isaksen, Dia, Noslin; Valentin Castellanos

UNAVAILABLE: Castrovilli (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Patric (Injured)

MONZA VS LAZIO PREDICTION

Monza, as mentioned, have struggled for goals throughout the campaign but do have the creative spark of Maldini with too much of their play reliant on him in the attacking third. They take on a Lazio side that have been winning games in a variety of ways so far this season and, as a result, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them continue their good form, albeit it may have to be an attritional victory and performance.
