Monza Preview: Struggling Monza

Following the departure of Raffaele Palladino, Monza took the decision to appoint AC Milan legend Alessandro Nesta but his managerial credentials were always a concern and they currently sit rock-bottom in Serie A as they look destined for relegation.

Nesta has recently been replaced by Salvatore Bocchetti in the dugout but he has begun his reign with back-to-back defeats. They lost 2-1 to Parma a couple of weeks ago before then suffering a loss at home to Cagliari last weekend.

Fiorentina Preview: Impressive I Viola

Palladino replaced Vincenzo Italiano at the Artemio Franchi over the summer after back-to-back seasons of being runners’ up in the UEFA Europa Conference League and the visitors, after a slow start, have propelled themselves towards the top end of the table.

However, I Viola have drifted away from the Serie A title race after a poor run of form which continued with a 3-0 defeat at home to league leaders Napoli last weekend. That means they have collected just one point from their last four matches in the league.

Monza Team News: D’Ambrosio suspension

Monza will be without Italy international defender Danilo D’Ambrosio due to suspension for this weekend. They also have several injury concerns such as Georgios Kyriakopoulos, Roberto Gagliardini and Matteo Pessina.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Turati; Izzo, Pablo Mari, Caldirola; Birindelli, Bondo, Sensi, Pereira; Ciurria, Caprari; Dany Mota

Unavailable: Cragno (Injured), D’Ambrosio (Suspended), Kyriakopoulos (Injured), Gagliardini (Injured), Pessina (Injured)

Questionable:

Fiorentina Team News: Gudmundsson a doubt

Edoardo Bove suffered a cardiac arrest against Internazionale a few weeks ago and he remains unavailable for the visitors alongside club captain Cristiano Biraghi. Summer signing Albert Gudmundsson also remains a doubt for Fiorentina.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): David de Gea; Valentini, Comuzzo, Ranieri; Dodo, Adli, Mandragora, Parisi; Beltran, Sottil; Kean

Unavailable: Biraghi (Injured), Bove (Illness)

Questionable: Gudmundsson (Injured)

Monza vs Fiorentina Prediction

Monza have struggled badly throughout this season and they have lacked scoring options, too, with a reliance on the likes of Dany Mota and Daniel Maldini. Even by seeming a little more threatening of late, they have struggled since Bocchetti’s appointment. They now face a Fiorentina side that have reverted back to a 3-4-2-1 to arrest their slide but they have been playing against good side in that run and they are the firm favourites for this one.
