Montpellier vs Rennes Prediction
Both of these sides have underperformed this season and they made managerial changes in the first-half of the campaign with former Ivory Coast boss and boyhood Montpellier fan Jean-Louis Gasset replacing Armenian coach Michel Der Zakarian in Montpellier, whilst former Argentina boss and the ever hostile and intensely demanding Jorge Sampaoli in at Roazhon Park in Rennes, replacing Julian Stephan. Montpellier appear destined for Ligue 2 football with their 2-0 defeat at the Allianz Riviera against Nice last weekend meaning they have now suffered four successive defeats and begin the 24th match day of the 2024/25 Ligue 1 campaign sitting four points adrift of the relegation playoff place, seven adrift of outright safety. Rennes, on the other hand, have hardly been fluent but, after a big spending winter transfer window, have now enjoyed three victories in their last four matches, most recently defeating nine-man Stade de Reims by a goal to nil last weekend. A double chance bet in favour of the visitors would appear the way to go for this one.
Montpellier vs Rennes Tip: Double chance – Rennes to win or draw
