Montpellier Preview: Poor Montpellier side

Montpellier Herault begin the 15th match day of the 2024/25 Ligue 1 campaign sitting rock-bottom with just two victories in their opening 14 matches. The home team most recently suffered a 2-0 loss away to Lens at Stade Bollaert-Delelis last weekend.

The home team have already sacked a manager this season with Armenian coach Michel Der Zakarian being replaced by former Ivory Coast boss and boyhood Montpellier supporter Jean-Louis Gasset, who was sacked mid-way through AFCON earlier this year.

Nice Preview: Recovering Nice

With Franck Haise at the helm, who departed Lens over the summer to replace Ajax-bound Francesco Farioli, the southerners have started the season with some fairly inconsistent form but remain tucked inside the top six ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures.

The visitors most recent outing in Ligue 1 saw them defeat Le Havre by two goals to one at Allianz Riviera last weekend thanks to second-half strikes from Gaetan Laborde and Benjamin Bouanani before Gautier Lloris scored a consolation in stoppage-time.

Montpellier Team News: A few issues

Montpellier have a few issues for this weekend’s visit of Nice as former Celtic defender Christophe Jullien is out injured. As well as that, they have key first-team doubts such as Kiki Kouyate and Khalil Fayad.

Nice Team News: Several doubts

Both Youssouf Ndayishimiye and Terem Moffi are unavailable due to injury for this weekend. They also have some key injury doubts as they travel to Montpellier such as Mohamed Abdelmonem, Morgan Sanson and Mohamed-Ali Cho.

Predicted XI (4-1-2-1-2): Bulka; Louchet, Rosario, Moise Bombito, Nandjou; Boudaoui; Diop, Ndombele; Bouanani; Laborde, Guessand

Montpellier vs Nice Prediction

Montpellier Herault have been staring down the barrel for a couple of seasons with the hosts being tipped up as favourites to be relegated in each of the last few years with the league being reduced from 20 to 18 teams. They now face a Nice side that have been a little inconsistent of late but are capable of stringing results together as they ease players back to full fitness. Even playing away from home, this is a lobsided affair and Nice are firm favourites for this one.
