Monaco were hoping to sustain a title challenge in Ligue 1 this season but they have once again been dealt a few blows as they once again try to rebuild and go again by welcoming an improved Toulouse side to Stade Louis II this weekend.

Monaco Preview: Foot on the Monagasque

Former Borussia Monchengladbach boss Adi Hutter has cultivated an entertaining and impressive side down in the principality of Monaco. The Monagasque do remain inside the top three and the automatic UEFA Champions League places but they have underwhelmed in the last couple of months.

They most recently suffered a 2-1 loss to Olympique de Marseille after taking a first-half lead at the Velodrome but conceding an 89th minute winning penalty to Mason Greenwood. That means the home team have managed just four victories in their last 11 matches across all competitions.

Toulouse Preview: Toulouse keep winning

After qualifying for the UEFA Europa League via winning the 2022/23 Coupe de France, Toulouse struggled to balance European and domestic commitments last season but have been able to steady the ship this time around with Toulouse persisting with Carlos Martinez Novell and eventually balancing themselves to move up the Ligue 1 table in the 2024/25 campaign.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a comfortable 2-0 defeat of Auxerre at Stadium de Toulouse in their most recent outing last weekend. Josh King and Vincent Sierro scored the goals in the first-half of that game. They have now managed four victories with one defeat in their last five matches.

Monaco Team News: No Camara

Both Mohammed Salisu and Denis Zakaria have been persistent injury issues for Monaco this season but both are now fully fit and available for the Monagasque.

However, the hosts do remain without summer signing Lamine Camara due to illness, whilst the likes of Edan Diop and Krepin Diatta are missing through injury.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Majecki; Vanderson, Singo, Salisu, Mawissa; Zakaria, Magassa; Akliouche, Ben Seghir, Golovin; Balogun

Unavailable: Camara (Illness), Diop (Injured), Diatta (Injured)

Toulouse Team News: Still no Nicolaisen

Toulouse have a fully fit and available squad for this weekend’s visit to Monaco so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this one after their recent good form.

They brought in a few defenders over the summer, such as Charlie Cresswell, and that is now handy with Rasmus Nicolaisen remaining unavailable due to an ankle injury.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Restes; Sidibe, Cresswell, McKenzie; Donnum, Cristian Casseres Jr, Sierro, Gabriel Suazo; Aboukhlal, Gboho; King

Unavailable: Nicolaisen (Injured)

Questionable:

Monaco vs Toulouse Prediction

As mentioned, Adi Hutter’s style of football is intense and quite aggressive with an attacking philosophy. Monaco have been quite frustrated, though, with their recent run of form and they will simply be trying to hobble through to the winter break around the corner. Toulouse have been in excellent form with the only poor result of late coming away to defending champions and league leaders Paris Saint-Germain. Given their improved run of form, a good value bet in favour of Toulouse may well be worth a shout for this one.
