Monaco Preview: Foot on the Monagasque

Under the management of former Borussia Monchengladbach boss Adi Hutter, Monaco have been very impressive over the last couple of seasons and they remain the team likeliest to sustain a title challenge against defending champions and league leaders Paris Saint-Germain at the top-of-the-table in Ligue 1.

With performances and results remaining strong in the UEFA Champions League, the Monagasque’s form has underwhelmed domestically as they give up ground to PSG at the top. They did manage an impressive victory a couple of weeks ago as they went away to Strasbourg and defeated them by three goals to one.

Brest Preview: The story of Brest

Last season, with one of the smallest budgets in Ligue 1, Stade Brest surprised everyone and produced one of the best stories in European football by finishing third and automatically qualified for the expanded 36-team 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, where they have started extremely well and sit fourth in the league phase.

Domestically, Brest have naturally regressed a touch as they sit in the bottom-half of the table with four victories, six defeats and a draw in their opening 11 matches. They come into this one on the back of a 3-1 defeat to previously bottom-of-the-table Montpellier Herault at Stade de la Mosson a couple of weeks ago.

Monaco Team News: Camara suspension

Key summer signing Lamine Camara, who joined from Metz, is out suspended this weekend after receiving a red card a couple of weeks ago in their win at Strasbourg.

Fellow defensive midfielder Denis Zakaria is also sidelined due to injury, whilst Russia international Aleksandar Golovin and United States striker Folarin Balogun are also absent.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Majecki; Vanderson, Singo, Kehrer, Caio Henrique; Magassa, Matazo; Akliouche, Minamino, Ben Seghir; Embolo

Unavailable: Camara (Suspended), Zakaria (Injured), Golovin (Injured), Diop (Injured), Balogun (Injured)

Brest Team News: Fully fit

After losing some key players over the summer, such as Martin Satriano, Brest have been dealing with injury issues throughout the season but now have a fully fit squad.

The visitors are able to choose from players such as former Aston Villa defender Jordan Amavi and Norwich City midfielder Pierre Lees-Melou, who have been unavailable throughout.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Bizot; Zogbe, Chardonnet, Ndiaye, Amavi; Magnetti, Lees-Melou, Martin; Faivre, Balde, Salah

Monaco vs Brest Prediction

These two sides played out some entertaining clashes as they both automatically qualified for the UEFA Champions League with top three finishes last season. Monaco have a naturally attacking style of football, whilst Brest have become more chaotic than they perhaps would like since the back end of last season. With another game in Europe coming up, Monaco have the deeper squad to compete and, with home advantage, are favourites for this one.

Monaco vs Brest Tip: Monaco to win & over 2.5 goals
