MORGAN CHARRIERE: FRENCH FEATHERWEIGHT LOOKS TO BOUNCE BACK

Local favourite Morgan Charriere (19-10-1) is coming off a split decision loss at UFC Fight Night 240 where Jose Mariscal got the nod on the judges’ scorecards. He had won his last four fights prior to that with three of those coming by TKO. The 28-year-old featherweight will relish this opportunity to fight in front of his home fans.

GABRIEL MIRANDA: SUBMISSION SPECIALIST SEEKS UPSET

Brazil’s Gabriel Miranda (17-6) was TKO’d on his UFC debut in September 2022 by Benoit Saint-Denis but he bounced back well a year later claiming a submission win over Shane Young UFC 293. That was his last fight just over a year ago and he is averaging one fight per year over the last three years. This submission specialist will stick to what he knows best and will aim to get this fight on the ground at the earliest opportunity, meaning ring rust is not a likely significant factor for him.

MORGAN CHARRIERE VS GABRIEL MIRANDA PREDICTION

This bout sees two very contrasting styles meet in the Octagon as home favourite Morgan Charriere will aim to keep this fight standing whereas Brazilian Gabriel Miranda will look to get it on the ground as early as possible.

16 of Miranda's 17 victories have come via submission and none of his victories have come via the judges’ scorecards. 11 of Charriere’s 19 wins have come via knockout and that will be the most likely route to victory for the Frenchman. His submission defence is reasonably good and he will have to be at his best to avoid the threat posed by Miranda on the ground.

Neither fighter possesses particularly good stamina and they have lost more fights and they have won when it has gone the distance. We fully expect a stoppage in this fight, it just depends on which fighter can impose their style on the other first. Our marginal preference is for the home favourite to claim the knockout victory.

PREDICTION: MORGAN CHARRIERE TO WIN VIA KO/TKO
