31-year-old Yohan Lainesse, nicknamed the ‘White Lion’, has managed nine victories with two defeats in his MMA career so far. He was most recently defeated by Mike Malott in February. He now faces English fighter Sam Patterson. Fighting out of Watford, Patterson suffered his first career defeat in March as he lost to Yanal Ashmouz. Patterson has the greater reach of the two fighters but is the underdog. However, Yohan Lainesse’s change in style since becoming a part of the UFC could suit Sam Patterson’s style. Lainesse was once a power hitter but now finds himself often on the backfoot, limiting his strength. Patterson should remain technically sound enough in the clinch and has more variety and reach at range so could pull off a surprise victory.
