This is a crunch bout on the UFC Vegas 95 main card as Yana Santos meets Chelsea Chandler in the Women’s Bantamweight division. The Russian Santos is ranked at 12 and she meets American Chandler who is 14 so both are fighting to break into the top ten.
34-year-old Yana Santos has lost her last three fights in a row and she desperately needs a win. She has however faced high quality opponents in Irene Aldana, Holly Holm and Karo Rosa during this run. The skilled kickboxer cannot afford another loss here however as that could easily see her lose her way in the UFC.
Chandler is a grappler who will look to control this fight and she comes off a decision win over Josiane Nunes. While he 6-2 record looks strong, she has yet to face the quality of Yana Santos and her resume has nowhere near the same calibre of opponent on it. She steps up here and this bout will offer a good measure as to where she is at in here career.

This match is striker versus grappler as Santos will be eager to keep this fight at distance on her feet, while Chandler would like to take this to the ground early. Both outcomes easily represent the best route to victory for each fighter.
It is hard to like Santos who is riding a three-match losing streak but the context is key there. She fought high quality opponents and while the results have not gone her way, she has not been far away. Chandler will be game and pose her plenty of questions but Santos can get back to winning ways at The Apex.
