WILLIAM GOMIS VS YANIS GHEMMOURI LOWDOWN
William Gomis (12-2) was set to meet Lucas Almeida for his second appearance inside the octagon. Unfortunately, the Brazilian pulled out with an injury, but thankfully Gomis still gets to fight on home soil after the UFC reshuffled the card. Now, he gets the chance to extend his impressive 10-fight win streak which include decisions over Jarno Errens (2022) and Francis Marshall (2023).
Yanis Ghemmouri (12-1) was scheduled fight Caolan Loughran who has now been paired with Taylor Lapilus. Nonetheless, the Frenchman is grateful to be making his debut on home soil and is coming in hot riding a nine-fight win streak. His last three fights have come under the Brave FC banner where he earnt a split decision over Vladislav Novitsky (2021) and knocked out Bair Shtepin (2022) and Mehmosh Raza (2023) who he flatlined with a merciless knee.
WILLIAM GOMIS VS YANIS GHEMMOURI PREDICTION
Gomis is still on course to make his scheduled weight of 145 lbs, but now Ghemmouri does not have to cut the extra 10 lbs for bantamweight. That means he will be more hydrated and have more energy come fight night. However, he will be giving up size and weight as the natural 135 pounder.
This is a tough ask for as Gomis is very well-rounded and only getting better. Ghemmouri is a good striker and he will need to be aggressive to capitalize on a slow start. Expect him to chip with powerful leg kicks with Gomis corked and ready to counter.
The trouble is they both prefer to counter strike and we can see Ghemmouri being more patient than usual making his debut against a bigger man who he has not trained for. We are backing the favourite to cruise a decision, but there is value on the debutant considering the odds.
Prediction: Gomis via Decision
Value bet: Ghemmouri via Decision
