WANG CONG VS VICTORIA LEONARDO LOWDOWN
The first fight at the Apex on Saturday sees newcomer Wang Cong make her debut at the age of 32. The Chinese fighter earned a contract after she submitted Paula Luna at Road to UFC Season 3 and she will now be looking to make her mark in the Octagon. Nicknamed The Joker, Cong has a boxing and kickboxing background where she has fought at world level and she brings a 5-0 professional MMA record into this bout.
She meets Victoria ‘Fury’ Leonardo who has a 9-5 record in professional MMA. The 34-year-old American is coming off a TKO loss at the hands of Natalia Silva and she will look to bounce back here.
WANG CONG VS VICTORIA LEONARDO PREDICTION
Wang Cong makes her debut in the big league but she is facing an experienced veteran in her opening fight. Leonardo will be no pushover but she has lost three of her last four fights and all of those came via TKO. Depending on how Wang Cong approaches this one, she could overwhelm Leonardo if she comes in aggressive although she is not renowned for her knockout power.
She does however have a boxing background and she should be more than accomplished on her feet. With Leonardo’s only real route to victory coming via her grappling and takedown attempts, Cong will be keen to keep this standing. Leonardo’s confidence cannot be great coming into this one and we are tipping the newcomer Cong to get a stoppage in the first two rounds.
