TREVIN GILES VS PRESTON PARSONS LOWDOWN
Trevin Giles (15-4) continues his inconsistent UFC run. He is 5-4 in the big time now after earning a unanimous decision over Louis Cosce back in September last year. When he is on, he looks great and even has a unanimous decision over Roman Dolidze (2021) but people will not forget back-to-back submission losses to Zak Cummings (2019) and Gerald Meerschaert (2019) and knockouts to Dricus du Plessis (2021) and Michael Morales (2022).
Preston Parsons (10-3) would love to pick up his first knockout but would just settle for a win on his third UFC appearance. He had a very tough debut in the form of Daniel Rodriguez (2021) getting knocked out in the first round, but he bounced back nearly a year later in April by earning a unanimous decision over Evan Elder (2022).
TREVIN GILES VS PRESTON PARSONS PREDICTION
Giles continues his quest at welterweight. He did not last long on his 170 lb debut against Morales and his fight with Cosce was uneventful to say the least. So, we really do not know what version of Giles will show up.
That said, it is clear his best weapons here are his hands. He has solid boxing and rapid hands whereas Parsons is a grappler by trade and will be out of his depth on the feet here.
Giles is also a decent wrestler so he will be confident that he can fend off the takedown attempts and keep the fight on the feet. If Giles does end up on his back, he will be in serious trouble as Parson’s jiu-jitsu is top tier.
We feel Giles has the tools to nullify Parsons’ strengths, but Giles is so inconsistent and his output is always a worry.
