TIMOTHY CUAMBA VS LUCAS ALMEIDA LOWDOWN
Timothy Cuamba (8-2) hopes for a smoother night at the office after a tough debut four months ago. He thought he did enough to earn a UFC contract after a unanimous decision win over Mateo Alejandro Vogel (2023) on the Contender Series. However, it was a TKO over Michael Stack (2024) that led to his debut against Bolaji Oki (2024). He was the underdog but took his fellow debutant to the wire in a split decision loss.
Now, he takes on Lucas Almeida (14-3) who is coming off two devastating losses. Big things were expected from the Brazilian after announcing himself into the UFC with a brilliant TKO over Mike Trizano (2022). However, Pat Sabatini (2023) submitted him before getting TKO’d by Andre Fili (2023) leaving him fighting for his place on the roster.
TIMOTHY CUAMBA VS LUCAS ALMEIDA PREDICTION
Both fighters can grapple although we hope this is contested on the feet where their strengths lay. Almeida will also prefer to duke it out on the feet especially as he will not have to worry about being taken down.
They are good strikers who both like to press the action. Almeida has experience against better fighters, but we have not seen enough to suggest he can blast through Cuamba. Cuamba will have gained a lot of confidence stepping up on short notice against Oki and doing enough for one judge to give him the nod.
We expect this to be a close battle going to the bell. We are backing Cuamba to edge the decision, but Almeida is worth a punt considering the odds.
