TIM ELLIOTT VS VICTOR ALTAMIRANO LOWDOWN

Tim Elliott (18-12-1) makes the walk for his 18th UFC fight. His second stint has been a mixed bag going 5-6 but he has been fighting some of the best in the division. He bounced back from a three-fight skid in 2020 with two unanimous decisions over Ryan Benoit (2020) and Jordan Espinosa (2021). However, Matheus Nicolau (2021) then gave him a taste of his own medicine. He only appeared once last year, but it was a unanimous decision over Tagir Ulanbekov to get back in the win column.

Victor Altamirano (13-2) makes his fourth UFC appearance testing his flyweight pedigree against the veteran. He made his UFC debut in February last year and it did not go to plan dropping a split decision to Carlos Hernandez. That snapped a four-fight win streak, but he is back on track after knocking out Daniel Lacerda (2022) and earning a unanimous decision over Vinicius Salvador back in March.

TIM ELLIOTT VS VICTOR ALTAMIRANO PREDICTION

This is a good test for Altamirano taking on the veteran grappler. Altamirano is an aggressive striker with dangerous kicks and knees. He also has some decent jiu-jitsu in the locker however, Elliott is a stronger wrestler and he will look to exploit his takedown defence.

Elliott will bring a relentless pace, throwing constant volume on the feet. His striking is unorthodox which will keep Altamirano guessing but ultimately, he is going to try and grab a hold of him, pin him to the mat and look for a submission.

We can easily see Elliott making this a usually awkward fight and nullifying Altamirano’s weapons with his movement and grappling. That said, he has not been active and has distractions outside the octagon whereas Altamirano has been active and is full of confidence.

So, Altamirano is the value pick as the significant underdog, but on paper Elliott should grind this out.

Prediction: Elliott via Decision

Value bet: Altamirano to win
