TAMIRES VIDAL VS MELISSA GATTO LOWDOWN
Tamires Vidal (7-2) heads back to the Apex hoping to recover from getting her six-fight win streak snapped by Montserrat Rendon (2023) at UFC Fight Night 228. It came after a perfect UFC debut where she knocked Ramona Pasqual (2022) out in the first round thanks to a flying knee and she would love nothing more than another spectacular knockout or submission.
Melissa Gatto (8-2-2) kicked off her UFC career in similar fashion knocking out Victoria Leonardo (2021) and Sijara Eubanks (2021). However, she then ran into stiffer competition in the form of Tracy Cortez (2022) and Ariane Lipski (2023) who earnt hard-fought decisions.
TAMIRES VIDAL VS MELISSA GATTO PREDICTION
It is surprising to see Gatto as such a heavy favourite considering she fills in on relative short notice and steps up to bantamweight. She also has not won a fight since December 2021, but the main reason is that Gatto is a better grappler.
Vidal is very dangerous particularly on the ground with a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. However, her takedown defence is average at best, and we expect Gatto to be able to take her down.
That said we can see the grappling exchanges being competitive in the scrambles with Gatto accepting bottom position. We expect this to be closer than the stats suggest, but we are backing Gatto who is simply more technical everywhere.
