TAI TUIVASA VS MARCIN TYBURA LOWDOWN

The last time Tai Tuivasa (14-6) went on a three-fight skid, he responded with a five-fight knockout streak. Those scalps included Stefan Struve (2020), Harry Hunsucker (2021), Greg Hardy (2021), Augusto Sakai (2021) and Derrick Lewis (2022). However, he has been on the receiving end of three finishes himself getting erased out by Ciryl Gane (2022) and Sergei Pavlovich (2022) before getting wrapped up in Alexander Volkov’s Ezekiel choke (2023) at UFC 293.

Marcin Tybura (24-8) hopes to keep the skid going as he is also coming off a humbling finish. He also lost to Volkov (2021) but at least made it to the bell and then replied with two decisions of his own over Alexander Romanov (2022) and Blagoy Ivanov (2023). However, he then ran into one of the most dangerous men on the roster in Tom Aspinall (2023) who knocked him out in the first round.

TAI TUIVASA VS MARCIN TYBURA PREDICTION

We can fully expect Tuivasa to aggressively hunt the knockout and for Tybura to avoid the incoming fire by leveraging his grappling and dragging the Aussie to mat where he can work on a submission.

Tuivasa has the speed and power advantage. He will try and chop Tybura down with leg kicks before going up top in pursuit of the knockout. Tybura will be confident in being able to exchange on the feet and will fire in body kicks but will ultimately try and close the distance to drag him to the canvas.

Tybura is an excellent grappler and will seek a submission despite not finding one for 10 years. His ground-and-pound has been more effective, and he can easily take Tuivasa down, but as soon as he steps into range, he will have to worry about thunderous punches, kicks and even knees heading down his throat.

We can see a quick Tuivasa knockout or Tybura making this look easy by keeping the Aussie on his back. ‘Bam Bam’ is in miserable form, but this is a better match-up for him.

Prediction: Tuivasa via KO/TKO

Value bet: Tybura to win
