SEDRIQUES DUMAS VS JOSH FREMD LOWDOWN
Sedriques Dumas (7-0) makes his UFC debut and he is coming in hot. He fought three times last year – twice for Jorge Masvidal’s Ikon promotion before his audition on the Contender Series. He started the year by head kicking DeWitt Dixon out of the first round to extend his knockout streak to four. He followed that up with a unanimous decision over Aaron Highbaugh and submitted Matej Penaz in the first round to bag the contract.
This is Josh Fremd’s (9-4) chance to salvage his UFC career. He has not had it easy filling in to fight the veteran Anthony Hernandez (2022) on debut and Tresean Gore (2022) six months later. He did well to drag Hernandez to the bell but failed to convince any of the judges and then Gore violently submitted him in the second round.
SEDRIQUES DUMAS VS JOSH FREMD PREDICTION
This is another very tough fight for Fremd. Dumas is a technical and ferocious striker who also has a couple submissions in the bank. He has not fought anyone of note, but his striking is at a high level and we expect him to confidently throw combinations and mix up his leg attacks well.
Fremd has the advantage in the wrestling department and considering his job could be on the line, he should play it safe and set up the takedown with his strikes. However, Dumas has the power and skill to nullify the grappling, create space and overwhelm Fremd with his striking to convince the judges.
There is value on the underdog Fremd here as he is durable. If he can weather the first round and be able to take Dumas down, he can drag him into waters he has never been in before and grind out a decision.
