ROOSEVELT ROBERTS VS IGNACIO BAHAMONDES LOWDOWN
Roosevelt Roberts comes into this bout needing a win as after losing to Jim Miller by submission in June 2020, he lost his last fight to Kvin Croom via submission before that outcome was overturned into a No Contest after Croom tested positive for marijuana. Roberts’ had a bright start to his UFC career but this is the first real rocky patch of his career that he needs to snap out of.
Ignacio Bahamondes lost a tough UFC debut fight against John Makdessi via split decision but he will have taken plenty of positives from that performance. The 23-year-old Chilean lightweight has some good punching power with eight of his 11 career wins coming via KO/TKO and that is clearly his best route to victory.
ROOSEVELT ROBERTS VS IGNACIO BAHAMONDES PREDICTION
An intriguing fight lies in store here as talented young Chilean Ignacio Bahamondes meets Roosevelt Roberts. There is loads to like about Bahamondes and he has the power to cause anybody problems in this division. He may well however struggle against the more experienced and durable contenders in the division as he looks to refine his own skillset.
Roberts has not had it all his own way the last couple of fights and this will be a major test for him at a time when his confidence may be a little dented. For that reason and combined with the threat of Bahamondes’ power, expect Roberts to be a bit more cautious than usual and while this fight could easily go either way, he is marginally preferred to get the nod on the scorecards.
