RODOLFO VIEIRA VS CODY BRUNDAGE LOWDOWN
When Rodolfo Vieira (8-2) submitted Oskar Piechota (2019) and Saparbek Safarov (2020) to go 7-0 with a 100% finishing record it was a case of who could stop the Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion. It turns out, it was just someone with a gas tank. Anthony Hernandez (2021) caused the upset by surviving the first round and even wrapped up a submission of his own in the second round. Vieira quickly got back to old ways submitting Dustin Stoltzfus (2021) but then came unstuck again losing a unanimous decision to Chris Curtis (2022).
What Cody Brundage (8-3) has lacked in consistency in his four UFC fights, he has made up for in excitement. He lost a unanimous decision to Nick Maximov (2021) on debut but responded with a submission over Dalcha Lungiambula (2022) and a knockout over Tresean Gore (2022). However, he was then on the receiving end of a first-round knockout courtesy of Michal Oleksiejczuk (2022).
RODOLFO VIEIRA VS CODY BRUNDAGE PREDICTION
These two were supposed to meet in November last year and thankfully they have been rebooked as this is an intriguing match-up. We all know about Vieira’s strengths and weaknesses which will be very interesting against the collegiate wrestler.
Brundage is a beast in top position, but Vieira will welcome getting taken down with the confidence of wrapping up a submission from anywhere. Brundage can get this done if he keeps this on the feet. If he falls back on his wrestling, he just needs to make one mistake to end up unconscious.
Brundage is the smart pick as the heavy underdog, but if he tries and wrestles the Brazilian, he will be playing with fire and we feel an opportunity will eventually fall onto Vieira’s lap.
