PAYTON TALBOTT VS YANIS GHEMMOURI LOWDOWN
Payton Talbott (8-0) has graduated into prospect status after two superb finishes in his first two UFC appearances. He submitted Nick Aguirre (2023) on his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 232 and went on to knock out Cameron Saaiman (2024) at UFC on ESPN 53 extending his perfect record.
Yanis Ghemmouri (12-2) also made his UFC debut last year, although it did not go as smoothly. He had a fight with Caolan Loughran fall through and was forced up to featherweight to fight William Gomis on short notice. He ended up getting folded with a body kick to snap his nine-fight win streak.
PAYTON TALBOTT VS YANIS GHEMMOURI PREDICTION
Talbott is a colossal favourite which says more about Talbott than Ghemmouri. The Frenchman is a very good fighter, but Talbott has all the hype for a reason.
He is rangy and athletic striker with the poise of a veteran. He is extremely powerful and does not know what it feels like to lose.
Ghemmouri is a technical and calculated striker. However, what makes him the heavy underdog is that he does not have the wrestling to subdue him for three rounds.
It remains to be seen whether Talbott can cut it against an elite wrestler, but this is a good matchup for him as it will be contested on the feet for as long as it lasts. We expect him to have a comfortable night, but the odds are so wide it is worth a small punt on Ghemmouri.
