PAYTON TALBOTT VS NICK AGUIRRE LOWDOWN
Payton Talbott (6-0) makes his UFC debut after a successful audition on the Contender Series back in August. He earnt a unanimous decision over Reyes Cortez Jr which was a rare result considering he finished all five of his fights prior in spectacular fashion including three brutal knockouts under Urijah Faber’s A1 Combat promotion.
Nick Aguirre (7-1) welcomes him to the big time who is looking to make amends after losing his debut back in January. He was also unbeaten heading to the UFC but had a very tough introduction getting handed Dan Argueta who earnt a unanimous decision. This was also the first decision of his professional career racking up three knockouts and four submissions prior.
PAYTON TALBOTT VS NICK AGUIRRE PREDICTION
The UFC are eyeing Talbott up as their next prospect although at 5’10” we can see his future residing in the featherweight division. Nonetheless, he makes his introduction at bantamweight and is expected to bring the fireworks.
He is an aggressive and powerful striker and although he is taller, he will be giving up four inches in reach. Aguirre may not utilize it and instead attempt to close the distance and take Talbott down.
Aguirre is the underdog, but he has the skill set to humble the young gun. If he is persistent with his wrestling, he can subdue Talbott and grind him down. However, we feel Talbott will be too explosive to be tied down over three rounds and is capable of handing Aguirre his first knockout loss.
