PANNIE KIANZAD VS MACY CHIASSON LOWDOWN
After getting submitted by Macy Chiasson (2018) on The Ultimate Fighter 28, Pannie Kianzad (16-7) quickly earnt her way back into the UFC and has gone 5-3 since. She earnt four decisions on the trot before the current bantamweight champion Raquel Pennington (2021) gave her a taste of her own medicine. She responded with another dub over Lina Lansberg (2022) but got outclassed against last year by Ketlen Vieira.
Macy Chiasson (8-3) has only fought eight times since winning the tournament. She fought twice in 2022 earning a split decision over Norma Dumont but got folded with a peculiar kick. She had Irene Aldana on her back who launched a piercing upkick landing the heel on the liver. It was another setback which has been compounded by not fighting since.
PANNIE KIANZAD VS MACY CHIASSON PREDICTION
The only fight in Kianzad’s nine UFC appearances that has not ended via a unanimous decision was against Chiasson in the finale back in 2018. Chiasson found a submission in the second round and will back her grappling to do the same this time around.
Kianzad has improved a lot since that fight, but whether takedown defence is good enough to keep the fight on the feet is a different story. We do not think so, but Chiasson will have to work harder for it.
Kianzad needs to make the time of the feet count by lighting Chiasson up as a good boxer. She is the better striker, but Chiasson will hold her own leveraging her six-inch reach and four-inch height advantage.
We expect her to use that length to tie her arms around Kianzad, clinch up and assume enough control time to convince the judges.
Prediction: Chiasson via Decision
Value bet: Fight to go the distance
