NATAN LEVY VS PETE RODRIGUEZ LOWDOWN
Natan Levy (8-1) has recovered after his UFC debut. He arrived to UFC Fight 198 with a lot of hype sitting on an unbeaten record. He had a tough entrance getting paired with Rafa Garcia (2021) and got derailed losing a unanimous decision. However, he is back on winning track with two unanimous decisions last year against Mike Breeden and Genaro Valdez.
He takes on Pete Rodriguez (5-1) who could not make to original scheduling at UFC Fight Night 223. Thankfully this fight is still together as looks to continue the momentum of recovering from the first loss of his career. He stepped up on short notice to fight the surging Jack Della Maddalena (2022). He was predictably outclassed getting knocked out in the first round but bounced back in a kinder match-up against Mike Jackson (2022) violently burying him in the first round.
NATAN LEVY VS PETE RODRIGUEZ PREDICTION
For your first two UFC fights, you will struggle to see a bigger gulf in class than Maddalena and Jackson, so it is tough to say how much potential Rodriguez has based on those fights.
He also cuts down to lightweight for the first time, so it will be very interesting to see how he looks considering he has fought as high as light heavyweight. He has the same height and reach as Levy but will expect to bring all of that power down to the division and unleash it on Levy’s jaw.
The Israeli is also a striker by trade but incorporates his wrestling which will be useful if Rodriguez finds a home for his hands. We can can expect Rodriguez to burst out of the gate like a bull and considering is explosiveness, he is always a knockout threat in the first round.
We expect Levy to weather the early storm and drain Rodriguez’s gas tank by clinching up and attempting to chain takedowns together. We can see him cruising round two and three with a late submission possible.
