MIRANDA MAVERICK VS PRISCILA CACHOEIRA LOWDOWN
Miranda Maverick’s (11-5) last fight was a big setback. She was 4-2 prior in the UFC with her losses being a dubious split decision to Maycee Barber (2021) and a unanimous decision to Erin Blanchfield (2021) which will continue to age well. She then carved through Sabina Mazo (2022) with a submission then outpointed Shanna Young (2022) to regain some momentum. However, she met Jasmine Jasudavicius (2023) at UFC 289 and lost a split decision.
She fills in for Joanne Wood to fight Priscila Cachoeira (12-4) who is 4-1 in her last five. After knocking out Shana Dobson (2020) and Gina Mazany (2021) she received a higher calibre opponent in Gillian Robertson (2021) and got submitted in the first round. However, she is back in form after outpointing Ji Yeon Kim (2022) and knocking out Ariane Lipski (2022).

Cachoeira has been waiting to build on her seventh knockout win for months after scheduled fights with Sijara Eubanks, Karine Silva and Wood all fell through. She will be grateful Maverick has stepped up on short notice, but this is a tough match-up for her.
Maverick has the tools to expose Cachoeira. She is strong and enforces the pressure with her wrestling. She has the ability to close the distance and suffocate the Brazilian, however that will only be the case if she can land the takedown or tie her up in the clinch.
Cachoeira is a beast on the feet and hits hard. She is durable and has decent takedown defence, but unless she can find a home for her hands, Maverick will take her down and eat shots on the way.
If Maverick is hesitant and stands in front of Cachoeira as a target, she will get hurt, but she has taken this fight eyeing up a clear route to victory and we expect her to play it safe and pursue that takedown to control three rounds giving the judges an easy decision.
