MILES JOHNS VS CODY GIBSON LOWDOWN
Miles Johns (13-2(1)) replaces Davey Grant eager to get a win back. He had his most recent win overturned to a ‘no contest’ after a failed drugs test. It was a quality unanimous decision over Dan Argueta (2023) which made it two in a row after another solid showing against Vince Morales.
Cody Gibson (19-9) is grateful Johns has stepped up as he is also eager to get back in the win column. He is coming off The Ultimate Fighter 31 finale at UFC 292 where he fell short in a war with Brad Katona (2023). He lost a unanimous decision but has been gifted another opportunity to keep his second UFC stint alive.
MILES JOHNS VS CODY GIBSON PREDICTION
We finally saw John’s wrestling in full force again, and it was impressive to see him out grapple Argueta. If he calls upon those skills again, he could make this look easy. However, if he relies on his hands instead, Gibson will look great for the odds.
Gibson is very durable and will keep pressing forward pouring on the volume. If this goes deep into the second and third round, Gibson will look better and better.
If Johns fights smart, he can dump Gibson to the mat which will make his hands even more threatening when they stand back up. We are backing Johns to put everything together, but Gibson is worth a small punt.
