MIKE MALOTT VS YOHAN LAINESSE LOWDOWN

Mike Malott (8-1-1) makes the walk for his second UFC outing hoping to extend his unbeaten streak to five. He earnt his shot in the big time after a successful audition on the Contender Series when he caught Shimon Smotritsky (2021) in his guillotine. He then made his debut in last April against a fellow jiu-jitsu ace and proceeded to knock him out in the first round to secure his biggest dub to date.

He takes on fellow Canadian Yohan Lainesse (9-1). He also punched his ticket to the UFC on the Contender Series with a first-round finish. He TKO’d Justin Burlinson (2021) however, he did not have the same success on debut. It was also in April last year and he got knocked out by Gabe Green. However, he has already bounced back with a split decision over Darian Weeks back in September.

MIKE MALOTT VS YOHAN LAINESSE PREDICTION

There is hardly anything between these guys on the tape with just Lainesse boasting three inches in reach. He will look to leverage those inches to the full with his heavy hands and will be heavier on the night.

Malott will try and make up for that with his speed and put on a suffocating pressure. Lainesse has shown a tendency to gas out so Mallott will know that the longer the fight goes on, the more effective his volume will be.

They are both well-rounded, especially Malott but we expect the majority of this to be contested on the feet. Lainesse will be a threat as always, especially in the first round, but we are backing Malott to finish stronger and may even secure a late knockout.
