MATT BROWN VS COURT MCGEE LOWDOWN
Matt Brown (23-19) makes his 30th UFC appearance. In his first 17 he went 12-5 after reeling off five straight knockouts. However, father time has crept on him and has since gone 4-8. He prevented a three-fight skid in 2021 by knocking out Dhiego Lima but is coming off a split decision loss to Bryan Barberena over a year ago.
He has been paired with fellow veteran Court McGee (21-11) who makes his 21st UFC cap. We thought we the end of his career was near after going 1-5. Carlos Condit (2020) inflicted the fifth loss, but he displayed that infamous grit by clawing back unanimous decisions over Claudio Silva (2021) and Ramiz Brahimaj (2022). However, he returned five months later to get starched by Jeremiah Wells back in June to drop his UFC record to 10-10.
MATT BROWN VS COURT MCGEE PREDICTION
This is the matchmaking these veterans should be getting at this stage of their careers and Brown will be licking his lips at the sight of seeing McGee’s chin finally give way in his last fight.
They are both at the tail end of their careers and although Brown’s prime reached higher heights, they arrive to ABC 4 evenly matched.
Brown will test McGee’s chin with his violent and seasoned striking and McGee will test his takedown defence. Brown does not possess the pop Wells has anymore and unless he lands a clean elbow, it would be a surprise to see McGee get slept with one strike.
If McGee’s chin has not recovered, we can see a late knockout however, we feel McGee’s wrestling will be enough to grind out a vintage decision.
