MATEUSZ GAMROT VS DAN HOOKER LOWDOWN
Polish star Mateusz Gamrot comes into this fight ranked number five in the lightweight division and he knows a convincing win over somebody like Dan Hooker could catapult him into title contention.
He has a 24-2 record with one no contest, has won his last three bouts, and comes off a unanimous decision win over Rafael dos Anjos. His rise has been impressive but he does need another good win over somebody like Hooker here.
Dan Hooker was on an alarming run of four losses in five fights but they were all huge fights against top five candidates and he has responded by winning his last two. After those tough fights with the likes of Dustin Poirier, Islam Makhachev and Michael Chandler, he has since beaten Claudio Puelles and Jalin Turner to rebuild.
MATEUSZ GAMROT VS DAN HOOKER PREDICTION
Mateusz Gamrot is the favourite with the bookies and with good reason. He is incredibly difficult to beat and has so many ways to win a fight. There is also a sense that he is getting better with age which is in contrast to Hooker as there are signs that his long career is beginning to catch up with him.
Hooker has said he wants to put on a show but that may well just be talk. That said, it is unlikely he will be able to keep up with Gamrot to the bell and that is ominous for the Kiwi.
Gamrot just has more ways to win and is arguably better than Hooker in so many areas, that another win for the Pole is on the cards.
