MARLON VERA VS PEDRO MUNHOZ LOWDOWN
Marlon Vera (20-8-1) returns with a familiar chip on his shoulder. He got truly humbled and outclassed in his last fight against Cory Sandhagen back in March. One of the judges in that fight needs to find another profession as it was a dominant performance from Sandhagen which snapped a very impressive four-fight win streak including knockouts over the legends Frankie Edgar (2021) and Dominick Cruz (2022)
Pedro Munhoz (20-7(2)) fills in for Henry Cejudo and is fresh off an underdog win over the surging Chris Gutierrez back in April. Leading up to that dub he had only won once in his last six although those losses included killers such as the current champ Aljamain Sterling (2019), Edgar (2020), Jose Aldo (2021) and Cruz (2021).
MARLON VERA VS PEDRO MUNHOZ PREDICTION
Vera will boast a five-inch reach advantage which he will look to counter with venom. Munhoz is a high-level black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu but has built his game around his leg kicks.
He will try to chop Vera down and the moment a neck presents itself, he will pounce. There will be little room for error, but Vera has all of the tools to counter. He will leverage his range to hurt Munhoz from a distance and will not be afraid to clinch up.
He will also be aware that Munhoz will oblige in trading leather, which is dangerous, but Vera is made for it and will unleash fire in return. We expect Vera to pierce the mid-section with his front kick and reply with his own leg kicks.
This should be a fun display of technical violence and we back Vera to edge the war learning from his fight with Sandhagen to inflict more damage over three rounds.
