Mario Bautista (11-2) finally graces 2023 with his presence after fighting three times last year. 2022 could not have gone much better responding to his sole loss (Trevin Jones TKO, 2021) in his last six by earning a unanimous decision over Jay Perrin and ruthlessly submitting over Brian Kelleher and Benito Lopez.
Shockingly, Guido Cannetti (10-6) is on a two-fight win streak. Most fans wrote him off when he was sitting on a three-fight skid which dented his record to 8-6 at 42 years old. However, last year he knocked out the durable Kris Moutinho and followed that up with a first-round submission over the dangerous Randy Costa.
MARIO BAUTISTA VS GUIDO CANNETTI PREDICTION
Numbers do not mean much for Cannetti. He is better than his record suggests and he is not your usual 43 year old and is in exceptional shape. However, Bautista is a very tough fight for him.
The 29 year old will have a height and reach advantage and is only beginning to approach his prime. He is also a dangerous finisher and we expect a frantic first round.
Expect Cannetti to open up with kicks to the legs and body while threatening his lightening hooks. Bautista will try and maintain the range with his jab and offloading his 1-2.
We expect an exciting stand-up battle and if Bautista gets out of the first round, he can win this in a variety of ways.
