LI JINGLIANG VS CARLOS PRATES LOWDOWN
After almost two years out of action due to a spinal injury, Li Jingliang returns to the Octagon eager to show he is still relevant in the welterweight division. The Leech returns with a 19-8 record and he will be hoping to make up for lost time.
Carlos ‘The Nightmare’ Prates is a 30-year-old Brazilian who has come through Dana White’s Contender Series. He has a 19-6 record and has won his last 11 bouts, including both of his fights in the UFC. While he possesses a similar record to The Leech, Prates has nowhere near the same calibre of opponent on his record, but he should not be underestimated.
LI JINGLIANG VS CARLOS PRATES PREDICTION
This will be a baptism of fire for veteran Li Jingliang who returns to action after two years out and faces an incredibly tough opponent in Carlos Prates. The Brazilian has adapted to the UFC well and has now won his last eight fights by KO/TKO.
Li Jingliang has never been knocked out and he will stay out of range and avoid this becoming a slug fest despite possessing plenty of power himself. His strategy will surely be to try for takedowns and control the fight to slow Prates down.
That will not be easy for a 36-year-old coming off a two-year absence and that is why we ultimately favour Prates. He has had six fights since The Leech had his last one and that should be too much for Jingliang to overcome.
PREDICTION: Carlos Prates to win
