KARINE SILVA VS MARYNA MOROZ LOWDOWN

Karine Silva (16-4) has blazed a trail in the UFC possessing the rare ability to finish all her wins. She received the green light for the octagon after submitting Qihui Yan (2021) on the Contender Series and followed that up with two submissions over Poliana Botelho (2022) and Ketlen Souza (2023) to stretch her finishing streak to seven.

Now, she has been given a sterner test in Maryna Moroz (11-4). Although she has been inactive, she has 10 UFC fights under the belt and fought twice last year coming back after two years out. She pulled off a ‘Performance of the Night’ on her return with a submission over Mariya Agapova but then lost a unanimous decision to Jennifer Maia to halt the three-fight streak.

KARINE SILVA VS MARYNA MOROZ PREDICTION

These two have already met at the start of their careers. Moroz walked away with a first-round submission, but that was almost 10 years ago and they are both different fighters now.

This is a good test for Silva as Moroz has great jiu-jitsu and is well-rounded. Her wrestling is also improving and it will have to be on point to have any chance here. She is clearly the better striker and she is arguably the best grappler Silva has fought.

However, Silva is a different beast now. She is a powerhouse and very aggressive. We expect her to waste little time in shooting for the takedown and hunting the submission with extra venom avenging her sole loss.

We expect her to take Moroz down with relative ease but Moroz will offer her own submission threat on the ground. Her experience could pay off knowing that Silva has only gone three rounds once in her career. We can see her gassing out and Moroz making it look easy in the third round.

For that reason, Moroz is the smart pick especially as the underdog, but we feel Silva’s aggression and power will be too much with the Ukrainian.

Prediction: Silva via Decision

Value bet: Moroz to win
