JOSH FREMD VS JAMIE PICKETT LOWDOWN
Josh Fremd (10-4) is 1-2 in the UFC after making his debut last year. He filled in as a replacement to fight Anthony Hernandez (2022) and got outclassed in a unanimous decision. He then met Tresean Gore (2022) and got caught in his brutishly strong guillotine. With a ton of pressure on him, he welcomed prospect Sedriques Dumas (2023) to the octagon and pulled off his own guillotine to get his UFC campaign up and running.
He meets Jamie Pickett (13-9) who has found it even tougher under the bright lights. He picked up his first two UFC wins via unanimous decision over Laureano Staropoli (2021) and Joseph Holmes (2022) but is now on a three-fight skid getting finished in each bout. He got submitted by Kyle Daukaus (2022), knocked out by Denis Tiuliulin (2022) and then submitted again by Bo Nickal (2023) to crush his UFC record to 2-5.
JOSH FREMD VS JAMIE PICKETT PREDICTION
There is a lot on the line for both fighters and they match up very evenly. They are both athletic, strong grapplers who can striker. Pickett is particularly dangerous on the feet, although we have not seen the best out of him on the feet.
We expect this to be a competitive scrap, especially if there is space. However, we feel Fremd’s wrestling will be enough to bag a couple rounds at least. There will be a good mixture of striking and grappling, but ultimately, the safer Fremd plays, it the more likely he will take this.
Prediction: Fremd via Decision
Value bet: Pickett to win
